ON MARTIN LUTHER KING’S BIRTHDAY
PROTEST ON WALL ST.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 15
WALL ST. & BROAD
3:30 TO 6 P.M.

BAIL OUT THE PEOPLE, NOT THE BANKS
MONEY FOR JOBS AND PEOPLE’S NEEDS –
NOT WAR AND GREED!

“SAVE STUDENT METROCARDS – NO CUTBACKS – NO LAYOFFSâ€

On Martin Luther King’s birthday, let’s open 2010 by going back to the scene of the crime — WALL ST. — and declaring that this year we will fight to put the needs of the people before bonuses and bailouts to Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Citibank, AIG, Wells Fargo and all of the other criminals.

A coalition led by New York City Councilmember Charles Barron and other activists and organizations urges you to join us on Wall St. on Friday, January 15 between 3:30 and 6 p.m. Coalition members include the Bail Out the People Movement; Rob Robinson of Picture The Homeless; Operation Power; Brenda Stokely of the Million Worker March Movement; Desiree Pilgrim-Hunter of the North Bronx Community Clergy Coalition; Benita Johnson, recording secretary of the Transit Workers Union Local 100; the Harlem Tenants Council; Peoples Organization for Progress; the May 1st Coalition for Immigrant and Worker Rights; labor activists from AFSMCE and the Teamsters; and youth groups like Fight Imperialism Stand Together (FIST) along with many others.

2010 has barely begun and already we are faced with a widening of the war, cutbacks including the termination of student MetroCards, as well as depression-level unemployment, evictions and foreclosures.

To be deprived of a job at a living wage, or a home, health care, food, education or the ability to use public transit constitutes economic terrorism. Let’s start the New Year by defining our own issues and needs, instead of letting the corporate media and political establishment direct us like cattle.

Let’s keep Martin Luther King’s legacy of fighting war and injustice alive. Come from work, school, or wherever you may be on Friday, Jan. 15 and join together on Wall St. to say in one loud voice that the people will not tolerate trillions of dollars being handed over to the super-rich, nor will we tolerate trillions more being wasted on expanding the war while more of us go jobless, homeless and hungry.
