Obama makes history with transgender appointment
President Barack Obama just made history again by appointing Amanda Simpson, a transgender woman, to be the Senior Technical Advisor to the Department of Commerce.
In a statement, Simpson said, "I'm truly honored to have received this appointment and am eager and excited about this opportunity that is before me. And at the same time, as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one of hundreds, and that this appointment opens future opportunities for many others."
Amanda Simpson is President Obama's appointment to the Department of Commerce.

Simpson brings years of experience to the appointment from working in the aerospace and defense industry as well as being a test pilot and certified flight instructor.
