Soaking up art and fun from the Big Apple

Spring break for U.S. college students is a time to escape reality. The image Hollywood has created about spring break is “party time.” Over this past week, my friends and I decided to escape the cold of Chicago by going to the big apple, New York City. Partying wasn’t of paramount importance but rather, a group of keen art students decided that we would immerse ourselves in New York’s art and culture.

So we packed up our duffel bags and hit the road for a four-day adventure in the Big Apple.

The name of the game was not relaxation but rather, our plan was to absorb as much as we could within a few days.

Down in Harlem we soaked up some flavour where we ate at a Cariben (Caribbean) soul restaurant with live music, where patrons jumped out of their seats to dance and sing along. The Harlem Art Museum was an inspiration.
