Talaris Institute, Harlem Children's Zone to Partner |
SEATTLE, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Talaris Institute is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Harlem Children's Zone(R) (HCZ) of New York City. Talaris has delivered over 1,000 Parenting Counts materials, with a total value of nearly $40,000, to the HCZ in order to advance the organizations' shared commitment to improving the lives and future of children and families. Talaris materials include parenting kits, guides and videos in English and Spanish, which are designed to support parents and caregivers in raising socially and emotionally healthy children. The Harlem Children's Zone will incorporate the Talaris' Parenting Counts materials into their Baby College(R) parenting classes and Harlem Gems(R) pre-K program. The donation of these materials was made possible through the generosity of the Apex Foundation, the family foundation for Bruce and Jolene McCaw.
The partnership is a natural fit because HCZ and Talaris both recognize that the skills needed for success in adulthood are built on a foundation of social, emotional, and cognitive skills acquired in the early years. Both organizations are also committed to measuring and ensuring success. The HCZ incorporates long term, data- driven evaluative methodology and at the end of one year, will share evaluation results with Talaris in an effort to continuously improve the Parenting Counts materials and their ability to serve parents, professionals and the children they impact. The ongoing efforts of both Talaris and the Harlem Children's Zone to start working with children early, recognize the importance of parenting and maintain strong, high quality support will impact generations to come.
