OPEN LINE PETITION
WBLS Pres Charles Warfield, VP Deon Levingston, Op Mgr Skip Dillard: Restore the length of Open Line to 2 hours & air it from 10am-noonOpen Line is a powerful source of information about the Black Community in the NYC region. Weekly, the hosts present information, news, progressive view points and educational topics of interest to for people of color. The program is now streamed live online, and can be heard by anyone with an Internet connection. Supporters engage the program's hosts via Social Media platforms and by telephone call ins. It's urgently important to have relevant, community based topics discussed on the radio. Those two hours represent only .01% of the on air time of the station. The remaining 166 hours are primarily filled with entertainment content of comparatively insignificant content and value, with the exception of religious content for those who choose to hear it. The assault on Black Talk Radio silences voices and thought that are significant to our community. We urge the Network to restore Open LIne's air time to 2 hours, and move it back to its 10am to noon time slot. To: WBLS Pres Charles Warfield, VP Deon Levingston, Op Mgr Skip Dillard Restore the length of Open Line to 2 hours & air it from 10am-noon Sincerely,

HEARD AROUND TOWN
HEARD AROUND TOWN: * With Latino and outer borough voters central to the win strategy of practically every candidate for mayor of New York City, the endorsement of Bronx Borough President Ruben DÃaz Jr., the highest ranking Hispanic elected official in the Big Apple, has been highly coveted by the entire field. This morning the suspense surrounding who DÃaz would get behind will come to an end with his announcement that he will support former City Comptroller Bill Thompson, the 2009 Democratic nominee for the office. "Bill Thompson was the right man to be out mayor four years ago, and he remains the right man for the job in 2013. Bill has a long record of accomplishment, and will be a strong mayor for all five boroughs," said Diaz in a statement.

HEARD AROUND TOWN
HEARD AROUND TOWN: * A coalition including New York City Councilwoman Letitia James and Assemblyman Walter Mosley filed a lawsuit against the Bloomberg administration and developer Acadia Realty Trust calling for the City Point real estate project to be shut down and to commission a new environmental impact statement for the construction site. The suit alleges that the wage rate allowed in the City Point lease would force construction workers to earn substandard wages, and that the original environmental impact statement for the project assumed that Acadia Realty would be paying a prevailing wage. "The tipping point for me was when I discovered they were proposing to pay minority workers basically poverty wages, substantially below that of union workers," James said. Mosley added that the lawsuit was partially prompted by a lack of movement at the negotiating table between the construction unions and Acadia in regard to the wage issue. The Bloomberg administration did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A City Point spokesperson declined to comment on the lawsuit.
